Suspect Commits Suicide After Shooting At Mother, Toddler In Baltimore County: Police

A suspect was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a double shooting involving a child during a custody exchange in Baltimore County, police say.

Detectives were called to investigate a double shooting at around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 in the area of Deer Park Road and Wards Chapel Road.

According to the Baltimore County Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after the woman and a man exchanged custody of their 2-year-old son.

As the mother and child were driving away, the suspect reportedly forced them to stop, approached the vehicle, and began shooting into it, striking both of them.

Both were taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation of their injuries, where they were listed ins table condition on Friday.

Police say that the suspect was later found in his home suffering from the self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No details about anyone involved have been released.

The incident remains under investigation.
